New Season and JC has finally after long talks kept 5 of last season squad adding two riders Warren Kentwell and Martin Pytek both 18 year olds with bags of potential, We had a long talk with Carl while he was back home in Australia and he at 44 is rearing to go again.
Darren and Pat will again spearhead our aim to gain promotion after last season near miss Davie and Carl will slot into the middle order with Ryan who himself deserves another go after doing well at reseve.
JC and Coach Edwards are feeling happy with the way things are going and now Pat has had a year on these tracks plus International honours we are looking at a great season in the offing from Pat.
week one away to Hull my fellow promoters favourites to win the league, Hull's Nordvall is clearly a UL rider and will walk away with top spot in this league, Darren did beat him in heat one which shocked the home support. Carl was well out of sorts tonight and newcomer Warren also couldn't get going Martyn had a good meeting.
Away again a in next week so will be looking up at the rest soon !!!!
News so far this season has been hard to get due to JC other work commitments. We managed to grab a word with him as he shot out of the West Coast Arena on business.
JC was disappointed with the teams performance in the 4TT, over the years the club has done well in these competitions but struggled even in the home leg. When asked how he felt the season had started. In general we had hoped to me performing better overall following just missing out on promotion last season and keeping most of the side. Carl although a hall of fame rider both in the NSSPA and the clubs own and a glittering career has for some reason struggled even now at reserve. It's hard seeing Carl struggle for points. Darren also has not hit the high scores like last season and Davie Langfield has improved again but riders have now noticed him and he has to use his growing skills to the max.
We will as always make important and sometimes hard decision for the good of the club as when they are needed.
The Gems have had to make a team change in the run in to the end of the season with youngster Warren Kentwell out for the rest of the season following a really nasty eye injury. Everyone hoped Warren will recover fully and his eyesight will not be effected.
The Gems have signed the experienced Phil Hayes on loan from Foxhall we thank Richard for the speed we were able to get Phil onboard.
