Birmingham Lose In Thriller
Birmingham suffered a last heat heartache as they lost 46-44 to Harlow in their season opener.
"Honestly, I'm gutted to have lost that meeting." said team boss Steve Donaldson.
"We started appallingly, conceding a 5-1 then a 4-2, but after that, we were the better team. To be 6 points up after 11 and not get anything from the meeting is a real disappointment, but such is life. We need to regroup over the week and make sure that we give our home fans a full performance this week."
Billy Harrison and Darcy Broad were the stars of the show in the middle order, combining for paid 21 between them, with hotshot reserve Kai Lankowski chipping in a further 7+2, but an off day for Warren Kentwell (5 from 4) and Glyn Cox struggling (1 from 3) meant that Birmingham came away with nothing but a good chance at the bonus point later in the season.
"I just want to make it clear to all riders that no place is safe. We are not one of these teams that will let people coast by knowing their place is safe. People either need to perform, or we will find someone hungrier to take their job."

5 weeks into the season, and Birmingham find themselves in a strong position, being in third in the table.
"I am really happy with how the team is coming together. We had to make an early change, but Lee has come in and been a revelation as the second heat leader, and with everyone else chipping in, I believe that we have a team that can challenge anyone in the league."
"One thing I am disappointed about, though, is finding ourselves knocked out of the KoC. Over the 2 legs, we just couldn't be separated with Estuary, and it came down to a single heat, which unfortunately we lost. All credit to Estuary, who shwoed what they are made of."
After 4 league meetings, the averages look like this:
Alex 9.11 Billy 9.00 Lee 8.00 Darcy 7.53 Kai 7.16 Zak 6.25 Glyn 2.15 Team Total: 49.2

News has been sparse from Birmingham, but that does not mean that nothing goes on behind the scenes
"Honestly, with everything that has been going on in our first season, it has been tough to keep ahead of things! So much goes into keeping a club moving forward, that at times it is hard to give interviews, but let's catch up!
Firstly, I want to send our thoughts to Darcy Broad. Darcy suffered serious injuries in our last home meeting that will keep him out for the season. I know that the fans have asked about having a collection at our next home meeting for him, and I am happy to help in any way I can. The club will also match every single donation made during that collection, because Darcy is such a likable figure around here.
Unfortunately, we have to move quickly to ensure that it doesn't derail our season, so I moved quickly to sign Vaino Hasu, a young Fin who has been making waves on the continent. I am sure you will make him feel welcome!
We are past the halfway point in the season, and find ourselves in the promotion places! It is a long season, and there are some big meetings still to come, but I know that every single fan will be out in force to cheer us on to the PL!"
