Well as we go into our fifth season here at Foxhall as an established Power league side we will look to see who has the responsabilty of wearing the Viking colours in this new season. At number one we have returning captain and Power league rider champion Ludek Janicek who spent the whole of last season in the top five of the Power league averages. In at number two is Russ Julian who is back is his favourite riding position , definitely a fan favourite he will be looking to up his average this season and fight for a heat leader position . number three is the mad cap Wynton Te-Huna the joker of the pack and the one the opposition fans love to hate. Back into the side after being out on loan to gain valuable expierince is the young Will Huntsman who on his day can be a real match winner. Another rider back after a year away from the shale is Eugen Ilijas , this may be his last chance to prove himself in British speedway and i know hes raring to go. So the main body of the team is full of current and returning riders with Viking track craft but its a reserve where we have taken a real chance with two riders brought in on loan from the Necrons and we would like to say a massive thanks to Robert and his team for the ease of discussions during the off season . Fistly in at number six is Rhys Ballantyne and at number seven Mark London , two riders who are really looking to make there mark and show Robert what than can do. I promise you these guys may not be our assests but they are determined and 100% focused on bringing silverware to the Viking Arena this season. Can I take this oppurtunity to thanks John Grose for there continued support of the team and to all the backroom staff for working so hard to get the stadium back to its best for the coming season. We have the press and practice days this coming Thursday and then its onto the big one and our pre season opener against the Newmarket Raiders. See you on the other side.

Onto our new venture and new side the Stowmarket Scorpions as we we bring speedway to Stowmarket for the first time at the Jayar Arena. This was all born from the success of the Foxhall Vikings and a need for speedway in one of the biggest growing towns in Suffolk. As a new team the one to seven is a bit of a gamble but there are some familiar names in there. Number one and captain for the new side is Eddie Mabo the Aussie bombshell and a very popular rider he will be. At number two we have local boy Steve Conway a former JJ rider for the Foxhall Vikings who gained massive experience out on loan last season. Number 3 is the rather unknown Bartek Jankowski , the Polish star is well know in his country and keen to make a name for himself here. Four is young Charlie Humphries who has promised to up his average in a big way this season and we believe he really could. The final heat leader at number five is Vladislav Akumbarv the Russian star on loan from the Necrons. Again a massive thanks to Robert for his swift transfer work. At number six is young loanee Will O'Brien from our neighbours across the border at Kings Lynn who again we would like to thanks for the ease of transfer dealings. Finally but by no means least is Adam Austin on loan from our sister club Foxhall. A massive rider at JJ level we really didint want to see him on the sidelines this season at Foxhall and as soon as planning was put into place for the new setup at Stowmarket he was the first name on the team sheet. So there we have it our second and newest setup here at RA Promotions but by no means less important the there big brother up the road. Press and practice day will be this Wednesday when the boys will take to the track for the first time after a few teething problems with the surface delayed the stadiums completion. See you on the other side.

The Vikings promoters have been left with a problem after received the news that young Rhys Ballantyne has had his workshop and house broken into a cleared out . After a couple of hard seasons this was the final straw and he has decided to give up speedway and run a bar in Spain . Whilst this was a major shock to the Foxhall Promotion it could be a blessing as another managers words may have proved an inspiration and we have gone after the said rider. More info as we have it.

As soon a news broke about the unfortunate Rhys and his break in and ultimate stepping down from speedway for the foreseeable future the Viking promotion were quick to approach Terry at Newmarket thanks to an article written by Workington which mentioned there surprise at young Oliver Christensen being without a ride . After a quick calculation we realised we could fit him in a reserve and the call was made. We welcome young Oliver and look forward to seeing him on track this Thursday.

We have the very sad news from the Jayer Arena that young Will O’Briens career with Stowmarket is over before it’s begun . He suffered a badly broken ankle in the Scorpions opening day victory and will miss around two months speedway. Obviously it’s a very sad time for the young lad and we will be organising a collection for him at our next home meeting, but the season goes on and we had to move quickly in filling the number 6 spot and this we have done with young Swiss rider Sebastian Michel. This young man was recommended to us before tapes went up but we had our 1-7 then obviously the injury happened to Will and we took our chance. Having seen this young man on track we think you will quickly warm to him.

First up in week one we look at new boys Stowmarket Scorpions in their first ever competitive match. What a start to the new season and if the action is like this all year the crowds are certainly going to go away happy. Captain Eddie Mano lived up to the pre season hype as he rode to a faultless maximum, he was excellently backed by Bartek with a paid 12 and Charlie with a paid 9 . Steve had a baptism of fire at number two but scored a vital two points and there is definitely a rider there . Young Adam Austin’s transition from sister club Foxhalls Junior ranks to reserve was fully deserved with a paid 6 . The only big downside was the serious ankle injury for Will O’Brien who will now miss at least seven weeks of the season . He is currently back at parent club King’s Lynn for treatment and we wish him all the best.

Our second report of week one comes from Bowmount Park as the Vikings travel to the Tigers of Tweeside. And what a start to the season it was as the boys scored an amazing away win 44-46 . It didn’t look like the Vikings night as Ludek failed to score in his first two rides , but he was covered by rider of the night Russ as he raced to a six ride paid 17 in his greatest ever night on a speedway bike . Wynton ably backed his team mates with a paid 12 . Will and Mark three between them were the eventually match wining points . This was certainly the way to start there assault on Power league title and here’s to more points on the road as well as home this season .

The second week of league action has taken place and this week we start with the Vikings on the road again . It was a shorter trip up the A12 this week as we visited the Dockers of Tilbury who like us won away in the first week . This was always going to be a close encounter with the result in doubt right upto the last heats. Captain Ludek was back on form this week with a paid 14 and with Russ again backing him all the way with 9 these two are becoming a formidable 1 and 2 . Wynton and Eugen again proved there equally at home on the road as away with an 8 and 7 respectively. Oliver again proved he is settling in quick with another 4 points . Our only concern this early is Mark who again only scored a single point . It is very early in his career here and we are yet to ride at home but the extra points he could score will become vital as the season progresses.

Second up in week two are the Stow scorpions or should we say top of the league Stow Scorpions as they again bring home the points In a 50-40 win Captain Mabo was again supreme as he roared to 13 points but it’s what he brings to the pits and hes team mates that makes Eddie the man . Bartek showed why the management signed him with a paid 14 and some amazing riding. Steve and Charlie really came of age with 7 and eight respectively. With the whole team coming together on and off track this really could be a great season even at this early stage.
It is with regret that the management team at Foxhall have taken the difficult decision to end the contract of Will Huntsman with immediate effect . Young Will was brought back into the side after a year away but he has really struggled and has admitted himself that a drop back to the UL may be in order to kickstart his speedway career. His average has been just over 2.00 and he’s own confidence has taken a hit . We wish him all the best and we will do all we can to find him a new club . This obviously left us with a space to fill and we have signed experienced Belgian Guido Keusters to come into the side . He has many years on the continent and has been looking for an English club so the time was right for both parties.

This weeks match reports :-
We start this week from the dragon’s lair and a narrow defeat for your Scorpions. Captain Mabo started very shaky after completely missing the gate but he was soon back on track two wins and two seconds . The meeting also saw race wins for Bartek, Sebastian and Vlad. Charlie had another great meeting at number four with a paid eight , this was also copied by Adam. The big concern was the form of Steve who only scored two from four rides. Hopefully with a few practice laps and advice from the senior riders his form will improve , remember this is his first season in with the big boys. We currently sit second after the first few rounds. Next up for your scorpions is the knock out cup semi final against this week’s opponents the Denham Dragon’s and if we can repeat the performance from today we could stand a really good chance of going further.

Match report number two this week see your Vikings in Power league action at home in a local derby against the Raiders from Newmarket. The final result was in doubt until the very end and this was how the match ended 45-45 . There was a man of the match performance from Wynton only dropped one point in five rides. Ludek had another up and down evening by his standards . Russ tried but couldn’t repeat his feat of the last meeting but still more than played his part . Unfortunately the same can’t be said for Mark, Ilijas and Will and as we now know this was Will’s last meeting for the Vikings and we would like to go on record again with our thanks but this is his second time at the Arena and he just can’t get to grips with the circuit. This just leaves Oliver and he proved again just why we signed him when the chance came up with a masterful paid eleven from reserve. Next up the Vikings ride in a challenge match with an unfamiliar face in the line up .
